LOCATION: Possible Worlds (708G Somerset St. W., Chinatown, Ottawa)

*For this workshop, up to two spots are being offered at concession/reduced pricing of $49 (for students, recent graduates within the last year, or individuals with low-income). In all cases, proof of valid status is required at the time of purchase. Please e-mail us at [email protected] if you are eligible for this pricing. Spots are available on a first come, first served basis. A waiting list will be created once the spots are filled.

DESCRIPTION

This workshop introduces you to basic handbuilding techniques and tools to create functional ceramic objects (bowls, planters) or non-functional (sculptural) objects. Participants will be shown different possibilities for shaping a simple slab of clay, then be given their own clay to experiment and create one larger object or two smaller objects of their own.

All materials and firing of pieces are included in the price. (Glazing of your piece(s) is an additional $5, which can be paid at the workshop). Pieces will be fired and available for pick up approximately 2 weeks after the workshop.

For all creative levels, no experience needed.

BIOGRAPHY
Benjamin Woodyard is an Ottawa-born artist who works predominantly in ceramics, but also writes and draws . He received his BFA from NSCAD University in 2014. His first book, ‘GRIEF', was self-published in 2014.
